Moha by Geetanjali to bring nature-inspired artisnal jewellery to Hyderabad

This weekend, connoisseurs of handcrafted silver jewellery can check out the Mumbai-based label, Moha by Geetanjali. The artisanal accessory brand, helmed by the self-taught designer Geetanjali Gondhale will be showing at a city-based exhibition, titled Aakruthi Vastra, organized by Crafts Council of Telangana at N Convention.

Otherwise, the label mostly retails on their website. Up for sale are rare pieces inspired by nature and antiquated ornaments. At the expo, which will be held today and tomorrow, she will be presenting three collections apart from a few independent designs which are handcrafted by Maharashtra-based artisans in 925 sterling silver.

Ode to Goa

The first collection is called Goa, With Love where designs are themed around the Pre-Portuguese aesthetics of the place, dating back to the 10th century.

“It is the label’s tribute to the breathtaking beauty of the coastal town where I stayed for two years,” says the owner of the two-year-old label who met with local historians and discussed ancient folklore before beginning work on her designs.

The shoppers can expect to find earrings, necklaces, and hairpins crafted in silver and studded with turquoise and coral stones.

The traditional route

The second collection is based on how seed pods look. A trekking enthusiast, Geetanjali found inspiration for this nature-inspired collection during her travels.

Highlights from this collection include earrings, nose-pins, and rings. The third collection is called Revival which attempts to reintroduce designs that were lost as karigars stopped creating them.

Hence, you can spot rare earpieces like Gili Ole, which was gifted to new brides in Karnataka. And that’s not all, there are independent designs like a set of naths and something for the men as well – edgy cufflinks and lapel pins crafted especially for the millennials.

Rs 800 onwards for nose pins

7 Tips for Better Classroom Management

In my mind, the first and most basic obligation of a teacher is to see the beauty that exists within every student. Every child is infinitely precious. Period. When we start from this vantage point, classroom management -- and its flip side, student engagement -- comes more easily. It's an outgrowth of students feeling loved and respected. This video, shot in the first few days of my classroom in 2010, and the seven tips below will show how I try to put these ideas into practice. 1. LOVE YOUR STUDENTS Love them -- and stand firmly against behavior that doesn't meet your expectations or reflect their inner greatness. Too many students have internalized a profound sense of their own inadequacy, and it is incumbent upon us to remind them of their infinite value and counteract the many messages that they receive to the contrary. By loving our students unconditionally, we remind them of their true worth. Our students know how we feel about them. If we don't like th...

7 Tricks to Design Your Custom T-Shirt

TAKE YOUR TIME TO THINK AND DESIGN: Making a good design is not something that comes out without more. It is necessary to take the necessary time to carry out a good design as with any creation. It is very important, that what you design you like if it is for your use, or think that those potential buyers or users of your designs will like it. Even in corporate or gift shirts, if you make a design it is important to be good, or it will end up being part of the sleeping shirts or as a rag! That is why we recommend that you do not close the idea quickly. That is, when you have the design ready and think you have finished, give yourself a day or two and check it again. It is possible that at that time you see it differently or even think of things to improve it. VISUALIZE THE DESIGN ON A SHIRT: Well in an editing program, or in some mock-up of a page, preview how your design would look on a shirt. It will help you get the idea of whether that shirt model is good for your design,...
